The Royal Knights will play their last home game of the season when they host the Lakeside Eagles of Nine Mile Falls in the opening round of the 1A State Football Playoffs.

The Eagles come in with an 8-2 record with their only losses to Colville and Freeman in weeks 8 and 9. They are fresh off of a shootout win over the Cashmere Bulldogs. On offense they like to put the ball in the air. QB Cameron Gay was thrown for 2400 yards and has totaled 35 TDs against just 4 interceptions. His favorite target is receiver Nick Christensen, who is also often called upon to run the traditional Lakeside fly sweep. The Eagles run the ball just enough to maintain balance, but can be very effective. The Knights will have to shut down their running game and get pressure on Gay, which is a challenge since he doesn't hold on to the ball for very long.

The Knights took care of the Granger Spartans last week and have a record of 9-1. Senior running back Miguel Ayala tallied his seventh consecutive game of at least 100 yards rushing and hopes to keep the streak alive against Lakeside. The offensive line has rounded into form over the past few games and will need to be at their best to open holes and move the line of scrimmage for the running game.

The winner will move on to face the winner of LaSalle and Colville. It is forecasted to be 25 degrees at kickoff. Make sure to bundle up.
