The Royal Knights played a solid game again this past Friday in the opening round of the state playoffs. They controlled the Riverside Rams from start to finish on their way to a 42-0 win. In fact, the Rams offense never moved the ball inside the 40 yard line of the Knights. Royal has been at its healthiest and played its two best games of the season thus far. They are on a four game winning streak and have only allowed 7 total points during that stretch.

Here is a link to the game article from the Columbia Basin Herald. http://www.columbiabasinherald.com/sports/hs/royalcity/article_603d2150-5179-11e3-9a13-0019bb2963f4.html

The Knights will have to play a nearly flawless game against this Saturday (Nov. 23, 1pm in Moses Lake) in order to keep their State Championship hopes alive. The Freeman Scotties are undefeated on the season and are coming off of a convincing first round win of the Riverview Panthers. Similar to Royal, the Scotties also feature a multi-talented offensive backfield. Max Laib and Marcus Goldbach have had their way with Northeast A League defenses and finished with 262 combined rushing yards and six touchdowns against Riverview.

The duo runs behind a solid offensive line anchored by 6' 5", 300 lb Justin Rose, who at one point in the season held a scholarship to play football at WSU. QB Preston Hoppman is also effective in the passing game and give the Scotties a balanced attack.
