This week the Knights will face a tough challenge on the road against the rival Connell Eagles. Both teams come into this week with two blemishes on their records.

Connell dropped its two opening games, both non-league, against 2A Othello (28-10) and Caribou Trail League Okanogan (19-6). They have won the next four fairly easily against lesser opponents but know that they need this win to challenge for the league title. After Royal, the Eagles will face the undefeated Riverview Panthers. Winning both games would propel them to the league title. Dropping them both would likely slide them into a third place finish and a date with the Zillah Leopards in the playoff crossovers. Connell will rely heavily on running back Gunner Vanderbilt for offensive production on the ground and the field generalship of newcomer Austin Forsyth at quarterback.

Royal dropped consecutive games in weeks four and five to Zillah and Riverview, both undefeated and top-5 ranked. After a nice recovery against the Wahluke Warriors last Friday, they need the win over the Eagles to greatly improve their chances of finishing second in the final league standings. Freshman quarterback Kaden Jenks now has three starts under his belt and has made significant progress each week. The Knights should have the full array of offensive weaponry available this week. Both Miguel Ayala and Darren Miller will be available in the backfield and the recent offensive line combinations appear to be coming together nicely.

Success on early offensive downs will be key for both squads. This promises to be another great rivalry matchup between two great programs.
