1st day of practice kicked off the season today. Looking back over the last decade after speaking to a parent in the BG district, it seems appearant that the resources are dwindling for these kids to stay motivated and improve in the off season. The clubs in the area are all but gone. There use to be several personal trainers w/club teams that have disappeared or moved on for one reason or another. Is this the root cause or an effect?
The overall talent in the area is stretched thin. The days of 3-4 powerhouse rivalries in the county seem to be a thing of the past, or at least on hold.
What has happened that has discouraged so many youth from wanting to commit to competitive basketball?
Maybe some of the clubs/trainers? Coaches? Other easier and instant forms of entertainment and fulfillment?
It's a sign of the times and not limited to basketball, but defiantly an issue on the hardwood as of late.
The sign of the times.
