Well we have reached the final installment of the consolidated rankings post of the year. Sadly, we only got one Seattle Times 1A poll. Playoffs will speak for themselves from here on out. and the boys will determine the rankings on the court. This was a fun ride again. I'm excited my team slipped into the top ten under the wire.

Sadly, ScoreCzar has opted to discontinue HS team rankings. More info on scoreczar.org. WA highschool sports was proving grounds of his system and he's been an active member of our community. His rankings and activity added a lot to the discussion of highschool sports. While his rankings HS will be missed, I wish Scoreczar much continued success in the professional and college rankings. My take is that he's not abandoning us, just graduating to the next level.

Unfortunately, his HS rankings were a key part of the FDL consolidated 1A boys basketball rankings. I may need to come up with a new formula for the future. His computer rankings were much more accurate than Maxpreps, because he knew the data. Garbage in garbage out they say. But it was that attention to detail in tracking down accurate scores that distracts attention from other ways he can be growing his endeavor.

This just reinforces how difficult score data collection is. With available technology, the WIAA and other state HS sports organizations should be banding together and investing in a common score reporting system that is 100% reliable data, i.e. if you do not record the score within X hours, you do not win, and it is used for every sport. As it stands now, you are at the mercy of a large collection of various local newspapers, twitter and Facebook just to find out what happened across the state on a given night.
