How many players do Royal and Montesano return?

King's lost Green and Caleb Taylor and Friedline but return almost everybody else. Should be a contender once more.

Cascade Christian should be tough too.

CCS returns 9 defensive starters and 7 offensive plus both the punter and kicker. This includes QB (2 year starter), top 4 running backs, TE and H-back. At times in the Kings playoff loss the Cougs had 6 sophmores on the field at the same time. An up and down year with all of the youth, but it should pay dividends next year and the year after.

The Cougs will once again get tested early facing Cashmere at home and defending champ Monte at their place in the first two weeks of the season.

FOH (&fb)

Monte has a solid group returning next year the JV program did well and defeated Cascade Christian in a close contest at Monte.
The team to watch next year is going to be Woodland thier JV team was big fast and well coached with a quarterback that was impressive.

Quincy has 8 returners on Defense, not sure about Offense. I think its the same number.

kings probably lost 95% of their offensive prioduction to graduation, so lost WAY more than green, friedline and taylor. they lost two other very solid o linemen, jenkins (also the mlb) and tranter; ben welch, their all-purpose receiver/rb/s and a 4 year starter both ways; hansen, their basher RB; 3 other good receivers (hughes, brauer and brune) and a solid de in petersen. for a pass happy offense, there is no obvious qb waiting in the wings. they will win some games, but the only title they will contend for is the 1A title in the cascade conference against coupeville and s. whidbey and not sure even that will be the gimme it's been in the past! it will be a MAJOR rebuilding year.

Dropping more sandbags than a hot air balloon on a August night. Love it.

CAmes: that's a great visual. but only trying to give credit where it is due. this senior class at kings was as talented as any in recent years and it was way more than the three guys everyone talks about.

Well, I thought the drop off post-Vincent would be big. Instead, King's made the quarters both years. Coach Shapiro is a good one, and has King's on the right side of the "rebuild or reload" cliche.

Well, an Ames would know!

CAmes: fair point about making the quarters after vincent, but there was general agreement that green was next in line and put in the work to follow. no one like that currently exists in the system, and a passing offense without a qb ready to step in will struggle. but it's really more about giving credit to a solid group of kids, not just three guys.
