Hockinson golf may be returning to the days where Gaston De La Torre, the Chambers brothers, and Greg Wagner had Hockinson dominating 2A golf. After a few years of just a pretty good team, it is looking good for the Hawks.
Junior Nick Huff tied for 6th as a sophomore last year at state. Junior Jarred Gomez finished 38th last year at state but had quite a rough tourney. He is better than what he placed.
Now the Hawks have two solid freshmen in the mix. Diego De La Torre, younger brother of previous 3 time state champion Gaston, is a freshman this year. He's very, very good. Casey Turner is a solid freshman too.
The Hawks first match was against three other 2A schools and the Hawks took the top four spots!
Freshman Diego De La Torre and Junior Nick Huff tied for first, then came Gomez, then came Turner.
Gonna be a good next few years for HHS golf!
