TC Fever defeated Corpus Christie (TX) in the season opener in Kennewick, Washington 47-46. The Fever is led by State of Washington products Ron Childs (LB - Kamiakin HS/WSU/NFL), Scott Mitchell (QB - Kamiakin HS/WWU), Michael Romero (DE - Spokane/CWU), Jason Cobb (OL - Kennewick HS/Univ. Idaho), Mike Rigell (WR - Lakewood HS/BYU/NIFL), Jeremy Bohannon (DB - Richland HS/WSU), Nick Hannah (LB - Eastmont HS/Eastern Oregon Univ.), and Josh Jelinik (OL - Prosser HS/Univ. of Idaho). The coaching staff is also Washington State high school coaches, Craig Beverlin (Kamiakin HS), Jim Maher (Kamiakin HS), Steve Farrington (Richland HS), and Dan Whitsett (Tri Cities Prep, Pasco).

The Corpus Christie Hammerheads featured 5 players with NFL experience and a number of veteran AFL (Arena Football League) and NIFL (National Indoor Football League) players on their roster. 90% of their players played Texas High School football before moving onto college and/or the pros. Proving once again the State of Washington produces some of the best high school football talent in the country!
