What a game! Was such a terrible first half for Prairie, pretty good defensive effort by Skyview but really Prairie's misses hurt them. They heated up big time in the second half, frequently off of good defensive plays. 52 points in the second half for PHS!

Loved the balance for the Falcons, and I especially loved the two freshmen Konig and Daugherty, very solid play!

Great job, Falcons! Skyview doesn't have a bad young team either, they may have a good run in their near future

Final score and box score from the Columbian, too, for those who haven't seen it:

PRAIRIE 76, SKYVIEW 52[/B]
SKYVIEW ? Stephanie McDonagh 9, Aubrey Ward-El 27, Cassie Swartz 2, Gen Lo 2, Meggan Rakoz 2, Neesen Bristow 4, Hannahjoy Adams 3, Tiana Klutz 3, Marissa Wellington 0. Totals 18-65 (3-28) 13-19 52.
PRAIRIE ? Lindsey Asplund 2, Cori Woodward 19, Aislinn Konig 14, Jamie Phares 6, Nicole Geocke 5, Emily Peters 5, Megan Lindsley 12, Rachel Deaton 0, Cherita Daugherty 11, Kaitlyn Sitton 2. Totals 26-47 (10-27) 14-22 76.

Certainly a good young team with potential. Points off the press are a given for them. What is the scouting report on their half court offense? That is where the games in the dome are won. Faking left and driving right will need to be expanded upon. What are the assit stats? Skyview put a stop to that in the first half. A team with more depth will cause problems. At times it resembles the one-man show scenario that was mentioned last spring when Aldridge resigned. They need the balance that you mentioned late in games that will eventually be tight. Haven't seen many adjustments from the bench that were a mainstay with Aldridge. Hope that is being developed.

Prairie's press was certainly a key but even their halfcourt pressure is suffocating so far in the couple times I've seen them this season. They're just so fast, if you manage to get by one, there's another waiting for you and the Falcon you got past has already switched. Kaitlyn Sitton, additionally, wasn't a huge factor offensively but it was great to get some help on the boards and a set of longer arms on the defensive end.

Skyview, also, is
A) young
B) without the rotation and depth they had in recent years.

We all knew El-Ward would do well, but they're missing the depth (so far) that enabled them to contend with teams like Prairie for a full game and got their starters good rest in recent years.

Another note I forgot to mention about Daugherty... her speed.... get her in the open court and... WHOOSH!
