Royal City will be the site for a Washington State Qualifier Wrestling tournament. It is sanctioned by the NHSCA (National High School Coaches Association), and is the second of two STATE qualifiers in Washington this year for the NATIONAL OPEN WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS, held this year in Myrtle Beach, SC on June 16 thru 19. The other qualifier was held in Republic on April 21st. There are currently no qualifiers scheduled in the state of Idaho or Oregon, so this may be your last opportunity to earn a slot into the National event.

Royal City is located roughly 18 miles East of the Vantage bridge (I-90, exit 137) on HWY 26.

John Villegas is in charge of this event, with his contact info near the bottom of this message. This tournament has been run consecutively for many years, often bringing well over 200 kids coming from all parts of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. It is a very professionally run tournament, featuring exceptional competition (the Royal City Knights have won back-to-back STATE 1A team titles the last two years).
Also, like the Republic event, exhibition opportunities will be available, and wrestling will be conducted on full mats with WOA certified officials.

Divisions/weight classes are as follows:

LITTLE TYKE (K-3): Weight classes will be determined by number of like-sized opponents. Please log in an approximate weight of a Little Tyke on his/her form. Current GRADE 3 wrestlers may opt up to Elementary Division.

ELEMENTARY (4-6): 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 115, 125, 135, 145, 155

MIDDLE SCHOOL (7-9*): 85, 93, 103, 112, 119, 125, 132, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 230

HIGH SCHOOL (*9-12): 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 285

COLLEGE/OPEN: 125, 133, 141, 149, 157, 165, 174, 184, 197, 285

* Note that grade 9 wrestlers have the option of either MS or HS divison. 9th graders placing in the HS division have the option of wrestling MS at Nationals. The top-four place finishers in each bracket will earn medals and also qualify for the National event in June, EXCLUDING THE LITTLE TYKE DIVISION.

Registration and weigh-Ins will be from 7-8:30am on Saturday, with wrestling to follow around 10.

In a few days, a link will be provided to access a registration form, or I can also provide you one in WORD via e-mail.
