The White Swan Girls are moving down to "B" league and they are in the running for the state title...i have been watching them play throughout the summer and they are looking strong....they aren't the best but they have potential and they have been showing the other girls team what they can do...they just recently beat defending champs LaSalle by 40 points and beat 4A Ike and Davis and 3A Sunnyside at every meeting this summer....these girls may not look like they can bring it but they can....a few of them may need to get in basketball shape but they have a perspective starting squad that is ready for anyone.....A young team but they have grown tremendously over the summer.....Look for sophomore Kassandra Espindola and Junior Danika Pimms to bring it big time for the Cougars both of these young ladies are good all around players, put them in any position and they can play....Kassandra can keep up with anyone on the defensive side, has a great inside jumper, and is automatic at the line....Danika is a strong post, can score when called upon, and can rip those boards down....Both of these young ladies look as though they may lead the cougars to the state tournament this year....the others Miami VanPelt, Josephine Wallahee, and Sophia Perez are great additions to this starting squad.....both Miami and Sophia shoot very well from beyond the arc...Josephine is a strong rebounder and a good post.....Ones to watch that have been showing great maturity on the court is Amber Jones and Jasmine Pruneda, Amber looks very comfortable on the court especially when playing against larger opponents. Jasmine is very quick and has great potential......White Swan is a very small squad but these girls use there quickness on the court and there great defense to out run thier opponents....Let's hope that these girls only continue to improve.....White Swan looks very promising this year, even though they are very young they proved that they could hang with the big teams by nearly pulling out a district berth in 1A division....I'm excited to see how this very young squad fairs this year in the 2B division.....
