The Lady Chieftains fought through a lot to capture the 3A State title. CRHS finished 3rd in the 3A Greater St Helens League behind powerhouse Camas and new soccer contender Union. But Columbia River, laden with 11 seniors, fought hard through the playoffs and made it to the semifinals. They shocked others, and even themselves. With Camas in the other semifinal, they really wanted a win. Because then, if Camas won, they could face their league foe in the State Championship. Camas fell, but Columbia River fought through overtime and won on penalty kicks.
Then the Chieftains faced Mercer Island in the Championship. MI had defeated Camas in the semifinals 2-1. River's Kelianne Swenson had a nice pass from Hannah Kimsey in the air and directed it to the right side of the goal. MI's freshman goalkeeper nearly got a hand on it, but couldn't quite get to it. Thirteen minutes more and regulation was over. Neither team prevailed in overtime but the Chieftains were victorious in a shootout. Senior goalkeeper Teegan Ryan made the key saves and Columbia River took home the 3A State Soccer Title.

Congrats to the Chieftains!
