Could it be?

Has the newest WIAA incarnation of the tournament draw placed coaches in a position where they have to consider 'influencing the outcome' of games to get a favorable draw?

More than a little chatter about that at the SunDome this week.....

I think it has happened and more than once. Teams that win a regional game may have to travel as opposed to losing and staying close to home. Good conversation piece.

Please elaborate guys. Give some examples of what you are referring to. Throwing a game means you will play a higher seed. Were there some examples of this happening so a team could play a higher seed but play close to home? What's the advantage? The one 'fishy' loss I heard commented on was Zillah losing to Highland to avoid being in LaSalle's bracket at districts. But that has nothing to do with the WIAA draw for state. Regionals is not based on a draw-it goes by seeding from district tourneys, at least here in the SCAC.

Teams that win a regional game go to State....teams that lose a Regional game go home. The argument doesn't seem to make sense.
