In Nisqually league District 3 action tonight, Vashon Island hung on to win 45-43 over Cascade Christian.
Vashon fell behind the Cougars in the first quarter, but managed to take a 1 point lead into halftime. They opened their lead to 5 points at the end of the 3rd. In the fourth Pirates' defense had their hands full with the Cougar's Colton Rayburn who scored 20 on the night. In the end, Vashon squeaked out a win for the home crowd and improved their record to 13-2 (9-2). Pirates' duo Jessie Norton and Sam Yates paired up to score 14 and 13 respectively, to keep their team in the hunt for tops in the Nisqually league. Vashon improves to 13-3 (9-2) and play next Sat. 2/01, @7:00 PM at Life Christian who have a record of 10-6 (6-5). Cascade Christian drops to 6-9 (6-5) and will host Charles Wright (9-6, 6-5 league) next Tue. 2/04, @7:30.
