Wesco predictions

With district playoffs just around the corner, a little overview of Wesco is overdue. First, there is no doubt that Jackson is the hands-down favorite to win state. Anything less than that would be an enormous disappointment to the Timberwolves. But two other teams will be going to state and will represent Wesco well.

The biggest surprise this year is Monroe....yes Monroe! They have pitching, they have hitting, they have defense. They are tough, well coached and hungry. Currently tied with Cascade for 1st in the North.

Cascade took 4th in state last year and return five senior starters. This is a great hitting team averaging 10 runs per game. Solid defense and excellent pitching will make the Bruins competitive against anyone. They only lost to Jackson 4-2 in pre-season with the game tied through 6 innings.

Snohomsih always has a great program. This year's team is a little younger but very talented. Under the leadership of veteran coach Kim Hammons, this team leaves nothing on the field. Led by senior shortstop Kevn Rodland, the Panthers are used to being in the playoffs, whatever the sport.

Edmonds-Woodway has a great record in an overall weaker Wesco South, excluding Jackson. But with good pitching and hitting, the Warriors will be in the district mix.

My prediction for the three seeds from Wesco:

1. Jackson
2. Cascade
3. Monroe

I know Travis Snider has done well this year. You happen to have his numbers?

What about that Kawika Emsley Pai? How has his season been. Word is he might be as good as Travis next year.
