Pick-em Week 6

Last week seemed hard, but everyone keeps picking 7 out of 8 (88%). Way to go 1AA for knowing the northeast league and believing that Freeman would not get upset A+.

Well this week seems like the top of each league is playing the bottom of the league, so it should be pretty easy. I’m pulling at least one game from the middle of the pack to make it interesting.

Mt. Baker @ Meridian
RA Long @ Monte
Chelan @ Okanogan
Deer Park @ Freeman
Royal @ KiBe
Riverview @ Connell
Zillah @ Naches
Riverside @ Newport

Week 5 picks

Wow, this is where high school is just hard to figure out. Last week upsets, Nooksack in a big win over Mt. Baker no one saw coming, and Lakeside over Deer Park which only one person pulled that one out. I was lucky last week only missing the Nooksack game.

Teams are starting to fall into place, so this week should be rather easy, we think?

Game of the week
Nooksack Valley @ Meridian (just kidding about the easy part)

Seton Catholic @ Stevenson
Okanogan @ Cashmere
Colville @ Newport

Wahluke @ Royal
Burbank @ Connell

Royal vs Wahluke Warriors -- Webcast info

If you joined us last week you were treated to a little surprise. VIDEO. It has been a long time coming, but we now have video for our home games. This will be for homes games only.

Fortunately, tonight will be another home game for the Knights as they welcome the Wahluke Warriors for Homecoming.

The Knights are averaging 53 points per game. The Warriors have averaged 49 points in their first two league games. The difference is that Royal is allowing less than one point per game on the season and Wahluke is allowing 27. So will we have an offensive shootout or a defensive battle? Wahluke has a punishing ground attack that racks up big yards for multiple ball carriers. The Knights’ defensive front will have to control the line of scrimmage. Will the Warriors defense be able to slow Jenks and the Royal aerial attack?

Come out and spend your Friday night with the Knights at David Nielsen Memorial Field and see for yourself. If you can’t make it in person, join us and WATCH LIVE at www.royalknightsfootball.com Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm and broadcast will begin around 6:45.

Week 4 Picks

Pretty close picks last week but nobody saw Meridian over CCC this early in the season (Go Trojans). I knew there were some Pickers out there that weren’t showing off. Congrats to Wolfram and GoKights both 7 of 8 on picks. Week 4 picks will mix up some hard and some easy. Tell us what you think for this week??? If you have a game that you think is close that we didn’t mention, please give a shout out.

Royal vs College Place -- Game preview and Webcast info

The Royal Knights travelled to Warden last Friday and came home with a convincing 61-3 victory. They got off to a fast start and scored a touchdown on every possession in the first half to end the half with a 48-0 lead. They have outscored their opponents in their first three games by a combined 138-3.

This Friday the Knights will stay home to host the College Place Hawks for the first time in program history. The Hawks nearly came to Royal undefeated, but lost to River View last Friday in overtime. They defeated both Highland and Goldendale in the two weeks previous. College Place has some athletes, but are only in their second year of varsity football. They will face an uphill battle against the Knights and their current 30-game winning streak.

Week 3 Picks

OK, we have been talking about the teams doing well all over the state, now let’s see how well everyone can pick them (scores are bonus). I pulled all the undefeated matchup’s to make things more interesting, but will throw in Royal for all those cougar fans. Wink

We will start with the West side this time.

Royal @ Warden Cougars -- Webcast Info

This Friday the Knights will head to Warden to take on the Cougars in the first league contest for both squads. Royal will arrive in Warden with their undefeated streak alive after opening with two big wins over very respected 2A opponents. Royal outscored Ellensburg and Othello by a combined 77-0.

Will the streak continue this Friday in Warden? Warden’s first two games have been at opposite extremes. In week one they hosted the Okanogan Bulldogs and allowed 49 points while only scoring 6. Warden fared better on the road this past Monday, scoring 63 points and only allowing 6 in Mabton.

Start your weekend off right with a trip to Warden this Friday night. If you can’t make it in person, join us and LISTEN LIVE at www.royalknightsfootball.com Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm and broadcast will begin around 6:45.

Royal vs Othello Huskies -- Game preview and Webcast info

Keep your fingers crossed that the smoke clears out today so that they Knights can host the Othello Huskies for the home opener. Royal outpaced Ellensburg last week and will face another 2A opponent this week. The Othello Huskies dropped their season opener to Connell by a score of 28-10.

Last Friday the Knights pulled off a huge win on the road at Ellensburg. I have to believe the Knights were favored, but not by 42 points. The Royal defense set the tone from the beginning by continuously harassing the Bulldog QB and the defensive line playing most of the game in the offensive backfield. When the QB did have time, his passes were tipped away by the Royal defensive backs. Ellensburg was held to 1 yard of total offense in the 1st quarter and only 16 total yards at halftime.

The Othello Huskies took an early 10-7 lead over Connell last Friday before conceding the lead in the 2nd quarter and trailing 14-10 at the half. Untimely turnovers in the 2nd half kept the Huskies off the board and provided short field opportunities for the Eagles, who capitalized with two 2nd half TDs. Othello is huge on offense. They are at their best when they are driving back the defensive line and running between the tackles. Team speed is not their greatest asset. Royal has the biggest offensive and defensive lines they have had in recent history. Unstoppable force versus immovable object. Who wins? If Royal’s offensive can be productive early, Othello’s offense is not built to play from behind.

Come out tonight and see an old rivalry renewed. If you can’t make it in person, join us and LISTEN LIVE at www.royalknightsfootball.com Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm and broadcast will begin around 6:45.

Who is the top of your league?

Last week the Pre-season poll top 10 showed 9 winners and most teams playing 2A teams. Now that we have kicked off the opening games and talked a little about the overall state outlook, let’s break it down by League and who will be the team to beat. Here is who I am seeing as the top of their respective league. Of course I am just guessing, I was corrected on my statement about La Center last week.

Jump in and tell us what you know about them? I know you quiet readers have some thoughts. Next week we will start picking and teams start conference play.

Time to kick up 2017

Well, summer is already gone and it's time for the Boys of Fall to show up. Can't believe the season starts this week. I haven't even had a chance to watch the preseason newspaper for speculations. I suppose we will have to make our own.

Call out to the people who know the teams best......That's you. Tell us what you are thinking this season. I am looking for a Cinderella team for the season?????
