This was the year that Prairie was going for three in a row. They were the prohibitive favorite to do just that. While they made it to the semi-finals, they were one very cold shooting team.

Very late in the game against Kent Meridian, the score was tied and Prairie had the ball trying to run the clock down and working on getting the ball inside to Sonja Curtis (University of Oregon). The point guard threw a lazy cross court pass, it was picked off by Kent Meridian. That player didn't have but a few steps to get to half court and she dribbled across, looked at the clock, realized how little time was on the clock and threw up an NBA three pointer. Swish, game over. They beat Mountain View 41-38 in the finals. Prairie had beaten Mountain View several times in the regular season but missed their chance to play them again in the championship game.
